Happy Hatch Day Dodge

We made him lemon cupcakes for his hatch day! All the birdies got to have some. We were not able to go out on his hatch day so we went out today and played in the tree. Great contrast opportunity, and he had a blast.

This was one of the first nice days that we had this year, so we took the boys out back while we did yard work. I planted a new vine of grapes, and a hydrangea bush, and Rich cut down the tree trunk so that we can use it in Dodges cage as a center perch. We played toss the birdie with Dodge and he takes to rolling over when he feels tired.

As you can see, it looks adorable, but it doesn't get him out of having to fly a few times more. Today is Dodges hatch day, and it is pouring rain out so he gets a reprieve from having to fly on his hatch day. He is one yr old today, and what a wonderful day for his hatch day - Happy Beltane and Happy Hatch Day Dodge.

Post Surgery update

Ok so surgery was yesterday, and I dont remember much of the day, but that is to be expected. I spoke with Heather (my dr.'s nurse from yesterday) and she said that I should, when sitting, release the wrist strap and move my wrist and`elbow to start minor excersises. I am still not allowed to lift anything or move my shoulder, but at least I can sort of type with two hands. I can shower today, and change the dressings on the incisions, but I am not able to soak in a bath for a while. Thankfully Oscar weighs in at next to nothing so he can move back and forth over my shoulders and it doesn't hurt to much. The only time it hurts is when he crawls down the front over the incisions. He cuddled up with me in bed yesterday and just kept me company while i was still recovering from the anesthesia. Like I said, I don't remember much of the day, and when I spoke to Heather, I asked her how far back I counted from 100, cause last time I had surgery, i made it to 97, apparently, I didn't even get to a point where they told me to count, I was chatting, then asleep. My throat still hurts, my lungs feel heavy, but I am a little more alert today.
