One Week Later

Birdie Hypnosis:You are under my command! No Touchy!

See I am cute if I try.

Ok, so one week plus a few days, and we have made major leaps and bounds. Odo will now step up on command, come out of the cage without major freaking out, and will now "cuddle" to an extent. Big steps for a baby bird. We have decided that either way, boy or girl the name Odo will stay, figuring that at this point it could cause an identity crisis if we change it. We spent a good deal of time with Odo over the weekend, and I think that as long as we continue to do so, this behavior will continue to improve every day. We still get the attempt at sounding like a "big bad birdie" with his little birdie growl and attempts at biting. He no longer really tries to bite anymore, he now only just grazes along your finger trying to make you think that he is going to bite you. Things are going great with the newest addition. What a wonderful Easter gift.

Odo

Ok, so meet "Odo". The name is temporary till we find out whether or not Boy or Girl. If it is a boy- Diogenese, and if a girl- Neece. Odo is an albino cockatiel. As of right now a very mad little cockatiel. I don't think this little one ever had much attention from people during the first couple months of life. So for now it is a slow go on handling, but we will get there eventually with time and patience. so for now meet Odo.

New Baby Nika

Ok, So Nika was supposed to come home Friday night, and we left here shortly after I got home from work. We got about 1 hour into the trip thought that we were going the wrong way and turned around to head onto the North East Extention. We were supposed to be going to Harrisburg, but ended up in Wilkes-Barre.(damnable mapquest) Mind you it is now about 8:15 and we have spoken with the guy who raised her and decided that since we were at least 2 hours away still that we would come next weekend to get her. We turned around and headed home. Apparently as we were heading home, the guy who raised her was bringing her back out into the bird house, and the carrier that she was in fell apart (think plastic cat carrier - bottom fell off) this startled her and she flew away. This was about 8:30 9pm. He looked for her till about 3 in the morning and gave up for the night - went out the next morning and looked all over the area including the local town trying to see anything that might be a sign of her - nothing. Along with predatory birds, they alos got 1.5 inches of snow that night. I am a realist on this aspect, I believe that she is no longer with us. He called me Saturday to let me know, and said that he would understand if I never wanted to deal with him again, but did I want him to put us on a wait list for the next clutch. I said of course, and he als asked if he found her would i still be interested, I said of course. After that Rich said that I should see what is available at FF&F in flemington. I went in and found Odo.
